Grace
by Sylvia Baer, Cape May Poet Laureate
The choices made will shape our world
Will make us strong or weak–
Will show the truth inside our souls
And goals we choose to seek–
Is fame and fortune what we want
With castles grand and tall–
Our name in lights up on a board
With cheers from one and all?
Is having more than all the rest
The end result of life–
No matter how the others feel
No matter what their strife?
Or do you seek a brighter world
With hope for one and all–
Where everyone deserves a chance
A hand up if they fall?
We can help in uncertain times
When basic needs aren't met–
When dignity and self-respect
Seem much too hard to get–
No one can succeed alone
Each person has a place–
We can't let hunger take a hold
and not put food in its space–
Please join us to continue now
With love which makes us kind–
And work to make a better world
One person at a time.
